When no one else can be in your head, you are the only one that can really understand what it's like during those moments. You look at them later on and can hardly believe that it is you, until you realize that is what you truly are. Then you get scared when you realize that everything in your mundane world simply surrounds these moments. They burn so hot that you cannot deny that you MUST exist.

This is a series of those moments, taken in one by one.

We've all been here, some of us more than others. Some find those moments plaguing them as they go about their daily tasks. Others wake up in the middle of the night and live them out in full intensity. There is something to be said for a thing so universal and so agonizing as the most personal moment.

The amazing and incredible Amber had asked me to document something intensely private and intensely painful. This is not a staged, orchestrated series of images... instead it's the reality of a situation in which I could barely hit the shutter button fast enough. This is a woman fighting a battle. A woman strong enough to endure the things that happen. I have an infinite amount of respect for this woman and I cannot thank her enough for letting me be a part of something this important and powerful.

The battles that no one talks about.

The dwellers of this place love to play tricks, run circles around your perceptions, and convince you that all they say is true. So be careful. Don't let their appearances fool you. Careful which stories you choose to believe.
